About the club
Brief history of the club
Our club has been officially operating since 29 March 2011, when it was entered in the Register of Sports Clubs of the President of Wrocław, whose statutes do not provide for economic activity, under the number 102. However, our history goes back further - from 1997 to 2010 our coaches ran judo sections within the AZS AWF Wrocław Sports Club, and then we established cooperation with MKS Juvenia Wrocław. In 2011 we decided to set up our own club, which still trains young adepts of judo.
Since its inception, our club has been active in both the regional, national and international arena. Our athletes have won over 60 medals in individual Polish Championships in various age categories. In the interest of the sporting development of our charges, we cooperate with other judo clubs in Wrocław, which gives them a chance to further their careers.
The MaKo Judo Sports Club is a member of the Lower Silesian Judo Association and the Polish Judo Association, holding a licence which entitles it to compete in the Youth Sports System.

Club objectives
The club implements the tenets of the founder of judo, Jigoro Kano:
- Physical development (renshindo)
- Proficiency in competition (shoubuho)
- Development of the mind (shushinho)
The main aim is to actively participate in the didactic and educational process, to strive for sports mastery and to popularise sport. The club uses the philosophy of judo to shape attitudes and human development at every stage of life.
History of youth groups
Children's and youth groups in our club are led by coaches Jarosław Maśliński, Maciej Kostrzewa and Tomasz Podżorski. Coach Jarosław Maśliński began his work with young adepts of judo in 1997, training them in a hall at 61 Zielińskiego Street in Wrocław. In 2002, he was joined by coach Maciej Kostrzewa, a multiple Polish Championships medallist and member of the Polish Judo Association National Team. Thanks to his commitment, new sections were created in Długołęka, Milicz and Trzebnica.
As the club grew and the number of players increased, we were able to create different levels of teaching - from beginner groups, through intermediate to advanced. In the following years, further sections were created, including at School and Kindergarten Complex No. 16 at 50 Wietrzna Street in Wrocław.
Educational, training and sporting activities
Training activities cover different age groups: children, youngsters, juniors and adults, and focus on organising leisure time and physical development through participation in tournaments, competitions and sports camps. The aim is to counteract social pathologies, to prepare for active participation in physical culture and to achieve high sporting results, including at national and international levels, as well as to promote judo in a recreational form.
